The Gradual Loss of Context
I find this article fascinating. I think it's remarkable that so few kids are reading the Bible now that it's making it hard to teach a lot of traditional texts. I wonder where that is going to take education. Will it shift education away from the classics? It seems that this would set the teaching of literature in a vacuum, showing more of what it is rather than why it is what it is and what it was.

Hmm. That's interesting... and yes, I think it will be a factor shifting interest away from literature steeped heavily in Christianity.
But people still study the Iliad and the Odyssey. I imagine near-future treatment of things like "Paradise Lost" will look a lot like the modern treatment of things like the greek classics...or perhaps entirely forgotten given a conquest of western society or something like that.
